ESLThe Purpose: ESL at PCPC seeks to reach our neighbors for Christ. We use English classes and free childcare as a way to build community and relationships with people in order to point them to Jesus. Teaching English and caring for families through childcare has been a great opportunity to act as missionaries to them.

The Details: PCPC offers FREE English classes during the school year. Students attend two times a week, either Monday/Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:00 a.m. or Tuesday/Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Our well-developed curriculum is designed for volunteer teachers.

ESLThe Commitment: Volunteer teachers commit to one class session per week. They are given easy-to-follow materials to prepare the lessons, teach the eager class, and pray regularly for the students in their classroom.

The Gospel: Prayer and speaking the Word of God into people’s lives are both very effective ways to build community. We have opportunities to speak of Jesus during Bible Studies, conferences, and Gospel presentations at holiday celebrations. The teachers’ roles are to reach out in love and to pray.

Ways to serve:

  • English once a week
  • Help with childcare once a week
  • Commit to praying for specific needs of ESL students and teachers
  • Donate gift cards for attendance prizes

Think you might like to teach ESL sometime?

We meet Monday and Wednesday mornings, 9:30-11:00 a.m., and Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Adult hallway below the Sanctuary.

Do you speak Spanish and love the Word of God? Consider serving our ESL students once a week by teaching from the Bible before or after class. (There is no requirement to know Spanish)
