Seeing the need, feeling the burden at Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center

At our recent World Missions Conference, Ramesh Richard said that we must see the need before we can feel the burden. He pointed out that Jesus saw the multitudes and had compassion on them, people who were “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36).

Our clients at the Dallas Pregnancy Resource Center are like sheep without a shepherd. They are lost and hopeless, seeking answers and wisdom with open hearts; the harvest is truly plentiful. Our need is great for laborers from PCPC to come forward and reap His harvest at the DPRC.

Last year 149 babies were saved from abortion and 142 clients came to faith in Christ; many other clients rededicated their lives to the Lord. I had a 15-year-old client who was six months pregnant and had contracted a sexually transmitted disease, human papillomavirus (HPV), from one of two previous boyfriends. My heart went out to her—15, pregnant, and living with an incurable infection that could eventually kill her. What if she were my daughter? As my heart ached for her, I was grateful for my time with her sharing the gospel, encouraging sexual purity, and praying for her. I continue to pray for her, knowing her only hope is in the gospel.

While serving in this ministry for the past three and a half years, I have seen the powerful transforming work of our Lord in the lives of our clients. Our staff and volunteers walk beside them, mentoring and building relationships; there is a sense of urgency among our staff, volunteers, and board. Our clients are fragile, and our work influences their choices of life or death for their unborn children every day.

Can you see the need? Do you feel the burden? Will you stand with us in this battle? I urge you to come and serve as mentors or advocates and nurses at the DPRC. We need you. Training sessions will be held in March and April. For volunteer information and training contact Earlene Jones, 214-905-9068, or visit our website.
