About Us

Park Cities Presbyterian Church (PCA) founded in 1991Our congregation is a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). The PCA was founded in 1973 in response to the need for a scriptural, evangelical and reformed witness to Christ. It has established as its top priorities to be biblical in both its government and doctrine and committed to evangelism, Christian Education, and the equipping of Christians for ministry.

Church Government

PCPC functions under the Presbyterian, or representative form of church government. The officers of the church are elders, elected by the congregation. The Senior Minister, Associate Ministers, and ruling elders comprise the Session, and are responsible for the governance and spiritual oversight of the church.

History

PCPC held its first worship service on May 26, 1991, at Highland Park High School, with about 1,500 worshippers in attendence. On June 9 we began worshipping as guests in the Highland Baptist Church sanctuary and alternated worship and Sunday School classes with our gracious hosts. (After sharing and leasing the church for over 2 years, PCPC purchased the property in early 1994 and later added an education building.) On June 23, 1991, members voted to name this local body of Christ, Park Cities Presbyterian Church. Our first senior pastor, Skip Ryan, was called by a unanimous congregational vote on December 22, 1991.
