Episode 16 (Season 2) Rest: I Dare You to Sit Still Guest: Mark Davis

Wednesday, June 15, 2022

About the Episode:
Join us for a series on “rest,” in which we discuss what it means to take time to be still in a world that is so addicted to activity. We talk about how rest, stillness, and quiet rhythms can be a blessing in our lives. In this episode, Mark discusses the impact of solitude, silence, and resting with the Lord. So many of us are overcommitted and may be experiencing life moving at a pace that is not sustainable. Tune in to hear how to first get all external distractions out of the way and then tone down the internal ones. Mark shares what a Sabbath can look like, the blessing of meditation, and a formula he uses for prayer: Adoration, Confessions, Thanksgiving, Supplication. We can truly rest in God’s Word and let it guide our prayers and days by reading one verse or passage and meditating on it repeatedly. What are the idols of our life, and what are we motivated by? We are encouraged to set time aside to ask the Lord how He wants us to spend our days. If we don’t spend time listening to the Lord, we consume the idols, and then they consume us. Every time you say yes to something, you are saying no to something else, so we hope this episode inspires you to say yes to the blessing of quiet time with God.
