Farewell, Elliott!

By Tommy McBride

Published October 2, 2004 in This Week

We are saddened by the loss of our FWCM Pastor, Elliott Greene, to New St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church. He has accepted a call to be the Assistant Pastor and Theologian-in-Residence there. Elliott was a pastor through-and-through. He would go down to the nursery, preschool, and elementary areas of our church on Sunday mornings, getting to know and praying for the flock known as Families with Children. He was always available by phone if someone was hurting and needed pastoral counsel.

Elliott believes in knowing your heart as the primary work of ministry. He was beloved by his Sunday school community and he loved them. His discipleship group of Covenant Dads will miss his inspiration and the love of Christ he showed for us. We will truly miss his pastoral care and his love for this ministry.

We know God’s providence led Elliott to this call, and for this we are grateful. Our loss is the gain of New St. Peter’s, but as brothers and sisters in Christ we are all part of the body, regardless of our specific local churches. We will see Elliott around Dallas and definitely in the Kingdom of Heaven.
